61+ Best RV Organization Hacks of 2023 (with pictures!)

I don’t know about you, but I seriously struggle in the RV organization department and am ALWAYS in search of camper organization tips and hacks to make better use of my small RV space.

And let’s be honest – it can be DAUNTING to find homes for all the little things we need to have a fun camping trip.

Luckily for me (and you now!) I happened to meet Barb through Instagram, and have since learned so much from her!

She has 6 grown kids, and was a certified professional organizer for FIVE YEARS – she owned her own business! She started RVing full-time in July of 2017 in Fred the Minnie Winnie and is sharing her best tips for RV organization today!

RV Organization Examples and Hacks

Sometimes you can be shown all the useful items in the world, but until you see someone else using it… it can be hard to imagine how to use it in your own space! I have gathered some beautiful ideas for RV organization in action from around the internet to inspire you.

Here we go!

Labeled + Mounted Kitchen Spice Rack

Cabinet space can be too deep, and horizontal space is limited, so bigheartstinyspaces had the great idea to mount her camper’s spices! Not only does it look beautiful, but it’s way easier to get what you need.

Tall, Clear Bins for Dishes and Kitchenware

Just because a space is big enough to hold everything doesn’t mean it’s organized or even being used most efficiently. For example, girl_camper shared that every time she arrived to her campsite, her things were all spilled and mixed in her cabinets. However, after adding tall bins, they now stay in place and she’s ready to go with less work when she arrives at camp.

Use White Bins To Make a Space Look Bigger

I *love* this clean, modern look from tidbitsandcompany in their camper bathroom. By matching everything, it makes the space look more tidy and the use of solid white vs clear bins in some areas helps to reduce visible clutter (like with the toothbrush cups).

Due to their super small size (and often, weird storage areas) RV bathroom organization can really make a big difference in the usability of your space!

Roll Your Clothes and Utilize Funky Spaces

Rolling your clothes works better for camping life – not only are rolled clothes capable of being stored more ways, but it’s also easier to stack them and access something without messing everything else up.

Happy_rvers found a way to use this shallow storage space for clothes by adding a bungee to hold them in. The clothes stay held up, and it’s easy to see everything you have.

Use Over the Door Organizers

Most campers have, at a minimum, a bathroom door to use for some extra organization… and it should be used! Taits_tiny_trailer shared how she used an over-the-door organizer to free up cupboard space.

In it, she has tons of toiletries that otherwise would have to be crammed into the bathroom sink cabinet. Now, everything is easy to see and easy to put away!

Store Food Items in Plastic Bins

While it does require a bit more work, storing all of your food in bins allows for better stackability as well as extra protection against rodents that get into your camper. Even things like individually packaged snacks get messy over time, and are best *contained*.

Happy_rvers shared this picture of their camper panty, and I just had to reshare it here! Each item is labeled, and they even have their liquor in an open top bin to prevent it from tipping during travel.

Utilize Wall Space for Hanging Storage

If you want to keep what little counter space you have clean in your RV (it truly doesn’t take much to look cluttered!) then think about finding hanging storage solutions. Raechel.ferguson found these adorable fruit hangers that totally match her campers’ modern farmhouse aesthetic!

Use Furniture + Decor with Hidden Storage

Not every hobby in life matches the aesthetic we’re going for (or is easy to have space for!). Abigailsikma found a beautiful solution for her gaming system storage in her camper that I felt I had to share as a family with 3 kids, all of whom LOVE their gaming consoles!

She got some pretty footrests that were tall enough to put wicker baskets under and use for easy access gaming storage. You would never know they were there!

Create Shoe Storage To Avoid Messy Piles

This is especially true if you have a family and many feet! Luckily, RV shoe storage is pretty easy to get organized – some people use pocket storage mounted to their mattress platform, while others use bins with hidden storage (like me!)

Use Towel Racks for Bulky Storage

I *love* how Krystal decorated her RV’s bathroom… but even more because it’s so organized! She mounted a towel rack to her wall, which really frees up tons of cabinet space (and keeps towels in the bathroom still, easily accessible!)

Use Specific Trays to Organize Your Drawers

If you are an organizer, then you likely have multiple sizes of Ziplocs too! After all, they are how I organize all of our super small stuff. Anyways, to prevent chaos in the bag drawer, Tracey shared this wonderful invention – a plastic bag organizer!

It’s important to measure first, but holy cow would it be nice to not have tons of smashed boxes spilling out bags in my drawers!

Use Bins To Create Compartments in Under Bed Storage

Most mattress platforms (atleast for the main bed) in RVs can lift up and provide additional storage. The problem is, it’s all just one giant space, and things end up getting messy fast!

I love how David utilized these 4 giant bins to create extra clothes storage in his space. This also helps things keep cleaner and easier to pack/unpack!

Use an RV Caddy to Organize Setup Items in Exterior Storage

Blocks, hoses, blackwater gear, tools and other items are usually stored in an exterior compartment of the RV such as the basement or slide through storage. However, it’s easy for the smaller items to get pushed around over time and get lost amongst the bigger things in storage.

I love this RV Caddy Mary shared – not only does it hold most common setup items, but she also put some handy things like gloves and duct tape in it too!

Keep Your RV Refrigerator Organized and Spill Free

The last thing you want to see upon arriving at your campsite is a giant mess in your fridge that’s a pain to clean up! Movement means RV fridges need a bit more planning and prep to prevent spills, but it’s not hard!

I love how Janette used the tension bars in her fridge to stop things from flying out. Another example is Karyl’s fridge – she stores everything in open-top bins on top of some Rubbermaid shelf liner so that nothing can move at all!

Use Pegboards for Vertical Organization

If you want to keep certain things easier to access, but still have a home, consider using pegboards! I love how this camper storage area was organized using a variety of pegboards and hooks. So nice!

  1. Thanks for providing such a great list. Always love to see what other RVers use. I have some of these items. Trying to find more ideas to utilize wall and vertical spaces. Finding adhesive that holds has been a problem especially in extreme heat. Most command strips hold as long as I buy the name brand.

Happy it was helpful to you! Thankfully I don’t have to deal with extreme heat, but some stuff does fall off after sitting in -20 temps during winter! Checked out your Youtube video, very helpful =) – Stacy

  2. I have a question. We just purchased a new 2020 Coachman Leprechaun motorhome, 30 ft long on 30 amp. We took it out for the first time and if we turned on both A.C. Units and used the microwave or anything else….the breaker tripped outside on the post. Is this normal? The place we bought it said nothing about this.

    • Hey Sandy!
I’m not familiar with your model in particular, but I know we only have one AC and if we turn it on and use the microwave at the same time it does kill our generator and trip the breaker. I’m sure there are some campers that can handle both being on at the same time, but the microwave especially is a super high wattage when in use. It is kind of inconvenient, but you have to turn of the AC while you use the microwave. That’s what we do. It def takes a little trial and error to learn about a new rig! – Stacy
