Are you trying to plan a fun scout camp for your troop? Then you’ll love this printable Girl Scout Camp journal that was designed with input from parents and a troop leader!
It can be hard to think of fun things to do at camp – encouraging friendships, camp education, and of course fun is alot to juggle! However I think there is something for everyone in this camp activity book! There is both a printable version and a preamde one you can buy on Amazon, but this article will be instructions for assembling your own fun camp activity book for your troop!
What’s Included in the Girl Scout Camp Journal!
Just so you know what you’re getting before you commit to printing and assembling, here are some highlights!

Girl Scout Promise and Daisy Flower Laws
Perfect for practice or for teaching new Girl Scouts, the first couple of pages focus on the basics – knowing the Girl Scout Promise and Law. I also included the Daisy Flower Laws to color in and a space for each girl to reflect upon which law they could focus on practicing.

Girl Scout Songbook
Who doesn’t love some sing alongs?! While it’s true everyone could look at their phone for lyrics, I love caroling and avoiding phone use when possible so I had to include a couple popular Girl Scout songs!
The songs included are
- “G” for Generosity
- Take Me to Scout Camp
- On My Honor

Camping Knowledge and Safety
While this doesn’t cover everything, I did make sure to include the 7 Leave no Trace Principles as well as a fun campfire building activity that doubles as a treat!

Scout Camp Recording Pages
This journal includes space to record three separate camp trips, and each trip gets four pages total! Some of the things girls can log include
- A picture/drawing and basic details of where and when the camp trip was
- Space to draw a map of the campsite
- Details of the trip such as weather and favorite activities
- Fun questions like “Something New I Tried” “Something I Learned” etc

Fun Camp Activity Ideas!
There are *tons* of games included – both ones that can be done solo to combat boredom and those that encourage talking to others and teamwork!
Here are some of the games included in this Scout Camp Activity Book
- Nature Scavenger Hunt
- Senses Scavenger Hunt Write In
- Camping Bingo
- Camp Word Scramble
- “Marshmallow Moments” – Kids write down something that happened at camp that matches the expressions of the marshmallow emoji
- Camp Emoji Riddles
- Camping “Most Likely To” – These are ALL positive!
- “Find Your Camp Name” – yup, just like the ones you see shared on Facebook… but camp themed, silly, and all positive
- “Marshmallow Madness” Game – All you need is dice and 4 marshmallow per player!
- “Camp Crazy Challenge” – Tons of camp themed activities kids can do and earn points. This really encourages them to have fun and try new things! It also works really well as a team game.
- Camp Charades
- Pigpen Cipher Message making activity

Nature Activities
No camp journal would be complete without some nature-y things to do! An animal sightings log as well as a leaf rub section will encourage kids to pay attention to all the wonderful nature around them!

Friends Section
Last but not least, there is also a section for kids to be able to share their socials so that they can keep in touch after camp is over! There are also some blank pages at the end should they want to do a yearbook style autograph section or add in some other notes/memorbillia.

How to Put Together Your Own Scout Camp Activity Book
While I also sell a very similar version of this Scout Camp Journal on Amazon (if you have money and not time =P) I also have made the files available for you to print and create at home! I love using my spiral binder for things like this, but it can be simply stapled if you don’t have one.
DIY Scout Camp Journal

Create your own perfect camp activity book for your Girl Scout Troop with this guide! Filled with tons of nature activities, educational camp content and camp themed games, your troop will have the *BEST* trip ever this summer!
Materials
- Paper
- Thick Paper for Cover
- (Optional) Small Spiral Bind
Tools
- Stapler
- (Optional) Spiral Binder Machine
- (Optional) Big Paper Slicer
Instructions
- Print out the interior of the journal. The pages are already in the correct order, so the only thing you should have to do is change the print options to "Booklet" (see the screenshot below). This will print in a way that all you have to do is fold everything in half once it's done!
- Print out the cover of the journal - If you have your thick paper, put it in now so that the cover is a little more durable! This will just fold in half over your journal.
- Trim and prep pages as you like - If you don't want any white edges showing, this is the time to trim them all off. It's easiest done (
and looks the neatest) if you have one of those big paper cutters, but it's doable with scissors. - Staple or spiral bind everything - I *really* love spiral bound as it's easier to write in and you get more page space, but if that's not an option simply line everything up the best you can and staple the edges.
- Fill it in! - Even if you guys are not at camp yet, there are some fun camp themed games and educational activities!
Notes
- For more in depth directions on spiral binding, check out the tutorial I did when making this Printable Girls Camp Journal
- The Amazon version of this journal is mostly the same, except the Amazon version *DOES NOT* include Girl Scout things, and is instead replaced with some mindful nature activities!
