Ingredients Needed for Recipe

This is best done in a paper bowl for easy transport and less mess, but I’ve seen similar things done on plates as well.

  • 2 Tbspish Peanut Butter (enough to cover the bottom of the bowl, or alteast where the campfire will be so that everything else can stick on)
  • 1 Graham Cracker
  • 1 Rice Krispie Bar
  • Half Apples Worth of Apples Slices
  • Shredded Carrot Pieces

Steps to Create Your TASTY Campfire

Step 1: Create the Base with Peanut Butter– This is to hold everything else in place, but it also represents the dirt clear of dry debris or grass, which means it’s a safe space to start a fire. Apply a thin layer of peanut butter to the bottom of your bowl.

Step 2: Create Your Rocks and Tinder – To create the rocks, pinch off a piece of Rice Krispie and mush it into a ball. This is the fire ring! After that, crumble the graham cracker in the center to represent the dry, small tinder.

Step 3: Place the Logs – Now place the apple slices (around 6 or so) on top of the graham cracker. If they are cut thin enough, they should be easy to stack.

Step 4: Add the Flame! – Place the carrots shavings in and around the apple slice to represent the flames of the campfire.

Don’t be surprised if a couple of rocks from the campfire ring are missing – but also don’t be surprised if magically the carrot flames are all that remain of this cute camping themed treat!

I created a printable version of this as it’s a fun group activity for kids, and it’s like they take an extra sense of ownership (and fun!) when it’s laid out in steps with their own recipe card. My kids love having an “official” recipe card to follow (probably because they always see me use printed stuff when I cook too!), so I hope your kids do too.
