With my girls about to enter kinder, they’ve been bringing home all kinds of 10 count type crafts, but I just LOVED this last one.. so I made a camping version of it!
Not only will kids get to decorate their own tent and interior, but I also added a fun option to really personalize it… having a window to add in a picture of themselves! Anyways, read along to learn how to make this awesome camp themed counting craft for kids!
How to make this cute camp themed counting practice craft
This craft is easy and modifiable depending on the ages you are working with! I included a 5 count version as well for young Pre-K kids so they could feel included too. =)
Purchase this craft template on Etsy here – written directions and pictures are included so you don’t need to be tethered to the phone/computer trying to fold this thing!
Fold Out Counting Tent Craft for Kids
Put a fun camping twist in your kid's normal ten count practice with this fold out 10 count tent craft - don't forget to print a picture of your kid to really personalize it!
Don't forget to get your template here or sign up to be on my email list to download it!
Materials
- 3 Pieces of Paper (Cardstock is preferable!)
- Crayons
- (Optional) cool picture of your kiddo!
Tools
- Stapler
- Scissors
- Stamp Pad (or any way you want to have the kids show amounts in the boxes)
Instructions
- Print the template - This is 3 pages total. Normal paper is fine, but as with most projects, the thicker the paper the better!
- Cut out tent sides - Color now if you think it will be easier based on the age of your kids. I also have a 5 count template that's included!
- Staple the tent together - Tent, counting boxes, tent. A staple on top, middle and bottom seemed to hold well
- Fold it in (this is easier to see in the pictures) - Fold the left side in roughly around along the left edge of the 3/8 box. Once the left side is folded over (you should be seeing the back of the left side now) fold it back out (so the front is now visible) roughly along the numbers 1 &5. Right side - Fold it in to meet the left side in the middle. For me, this was done by folding it along the numbers 5/10.
- Add some personalization - If they haven't already, don't forget to color in the tent and add a picture in one of the windows. There is also space at the top of the craft for a name and date. =D
- Fill in the boxes - We used stamps, but kids can draw, glue or anything else that can fit in them!
- Done!
Notes
There is a 5 count version of this template for younger kids. =)
To add a picture, just make a slit at the bottom of the window and slide in the picture. Add some glue to hold it in place.
