Free Earth Day Worksheet Preschool Packet – Tracing, Math, Pre Writing +

Get even your youngest kids excited to take care of our Earth with these fun Earth Day Worksheets for Preschool! It’s hard to teach complicated Earth Day lessons, but the spark can certainly be created with a few fun printable activities!

I homeschool my three kids – although I do follow a curriculum (Moving Beyond the Page!) I love making things custom for each holiday to add into our lesson plans. Each of the learning activities have an Earth Day theme – plain worksheets are ok, but the extra cuteness (look at Planet Earth in these… so adorable!) is way more fun! =P

Anyways, here we go! There are some free printable Earth Day activities from this packet you can download at the end of the article – first thing first though, let me tell you about what this giant pack of Earth Day preschool worksheets includes.

Contents of the Full Earth Day Bundle

These are designed for Pre-K through Kinder kids – I would recommend older kids check out the color by number printables here (they practice harder concepts like sight words, digraphs, and math facts)

Math Activities

  • Counting Punch Mini Book –Young children will enjoy this great way to practice some math and fine motor skills at the same time! For this activity, kids need to count up how many of each item are in the picture, then hole punch the correct answer. If that’s not available, coloring it in or something works well too. • Graphing Eco Friendly Items May be a bit advanced for an entry level preschooler, but if there’s siblings this worksheet is perfect so that they have something to do as well. This is good practice in identifying matching pictures as well as counting. I always recommend using the same color for the same objects so things are easier to count.
  • Count and Color – Straightforward and a fun way to practice counting. Kids will look at the number on the row, then color in that many items.

Fine Motor Skills (Including Pre Writing)

  • Shadow Matching – Part of the free printables and a staple in any pre school class =D
  • Letters Mini Book – These are a cute, paper efficient way to practice some writing skills (and have cute mini Earth Day books for memories!) You should check out the folding instructions on this post – I make these for just about every subject.
  • Pre Writing Practice – Before making tiny letters, kids needs to learn the basic things… like making lines and curves! There is one featuring different shapes and another that has different styles of lines. Sticking with the theme of course, kids will follow the path from the recycle to the recycling bin, trash to trash bin etc.
  • Earth Day Headband – One of the most fun Earth Day activities on this list! Kids love that they can wear and show off their “Earth Hero” Hat!  It’s pretty straight forward – just attach it a posterboard band after for extra durability.
  • Pattern Cut and Paste – Scissors are an excellent way to help hand strength and fine motor skills! Being able to cut and paste is so much fun to toddlers – and as you know, people learn best when having fun.
  • Find the Trash – A fun sort of “I Spy” activity that shows children near a nature walk trail cleaning up their local area.  Even though it’s just a printable acitvitiy, this gives kids some tips to help take care of our planet in their own local areas.
  • Coloring Pages – Earth Day color and trace options (featuring recycle super heroes) as well as a full “eco-friendly” scene.

More Ways to Celebrate April 22nd

There are *tons* of fun activities to include in your lesson plans or just with your kids for fun. We personally always include a nature walk and bring a scavenger hunt to really focus on all the wonderful things about Earth. We also love to pick a good nature or eco themed movie for family movie night in the evening.
